Mercifully, we finally received some relief from the crazy heat. 1) in the form of nature, and 2) in man made forms.
Rain
Or, a day-long thunderstorm, to be exact. I know some people love storms, and I have never understood that. Pelting rain, wild winds, and fork lightning are quite the site anywhere, but they are especially from a boat. You really get the feel that you are living outside. The upside, though, was that the long storm cooled the temperatures down to a range of 60-85 degrees F for nearly a week (as opposed to 70-95), and it made such a difference. Thankful for small mercies! This storm actually occurred right before Darragh, Cathy and the kids arrived, so their first week with us was quite pleasant.

Sun Shades
Of our own accord, we enlisted the help of MarinArt to add some features to Sabática. We actually started working with them before we had even left California to make some things that were missing – a couple of “blackout” shades for cabin windows and some deck cushions. They did a great job matching colors and such.

Once we experienced the heat in Montenegro, we also asked them to help us create sun shades for the upstairs windows (which nicely double as mosquito nets), screens for the stern deck, and a large shade for the foredeck (we call it “the tent”). The tent took some creative experimenting, but they came up with a fabulous solution. All of these additions do make a difference.

We can’t recommend Anna and her team enough. They are very professional and do beautiful work. If you ever find yourself in Porto Montenegro and in need of anything for your boat, do give them a call!
